One More Reason We Love New Zealand

6 Nov

Since the release of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, New Zealand’s tourism industry has gotten a huge boost. The movies, which were filmed on location there, featured stunning natural wonders that made the world want to see such beauty first hand. And some of it, they could.

New Zealand’s tourism industry has been on the rise for several years now, no doubt in part due to the success of the movies. And now, a fourth Middle-Earth tale has been filmed and is soon to be released. The Hobbit will hit theaters on December 14th, 2012, just in time for the holiday season.

And New Zealand has truly taken a shining to this new role as Middle-Earth on Earth. They’ve even released Hobbit themed coins that can be used as real money. And now, they’ve gone one step further.

Since New Zealand is an island, flying is a necessary evil when getting there. We all know the drill: check in, security, boarding, boring orientation, and then flight. But one thing’s different for Air New Zealand. That “boring” orientation is now a Hobbit-honoring mini-movie that’s sure to catch your attention.

It’s got all the necessary instructional information, but it’s also got all of our favorite LoTR characters on board, jokes, special effects, and, well, that Middle-Earth feel. And whether or not you’re a fan of Tolkein’s stories, you’ll at least be more entertained than usual.

It’s just one more reason to love New Zealand. Seriously. Why isn’t every country this awesome?
